About 890 Adventure R

KTM 890 Adventure R is expected to launch in India in August 2022 in the expected price range of ₹ 10,00,000 to ₹ 11,00,000. The KTM 890 Adventure R is the premium variant of the company’s middleweight adventure tourer motorcycle range. The motorcycle is powered by an 889cc, liquid-cooled, parallel twin-cylinder engine that it shares with the 890 Duke series. The Euro5-compliant motor produces 103.5bhp of power and 100Nm of peak torque on the adventure tourer.

The 890 Adventure R looks similar to the 790 Adventure R. Thus, the premium version of the KTM 890 Adventure series features a short fly-screen, low-slung fuel tank, knuckle guards, single-piece saddle, and a tall-set exhaust.

The hardware on the motorcycle comprises WP-sourced 48mm upside-down front forks and a rear mono-shock to handle the suspension tasks. The braking setup includes twin 320mm discs at the front and a 260mm rotor at the back while the safety net comprises cornering ABS, motorcycle traction control, and motor slip regulation.

The motorcycle also packs Dakar Rally-inspired ergonomics, a 20-litre fuel tank, a full-size TFT dashboard with KTM MY RIDE Navigation, and full-LED lighting. The list of optional extras includes cruise control, Quickshifter+, heated seat, and heated grips.

The 390 Adventure is the most affordable adventure bike in KTM’s line-up. This motorcycle gets its engine from the 390 Duke in the same tuning. The six-speed gearbox is the same as well, but is integrated with quickshifter. The traction control system and ABS can be switched off making it give more control to the rider. But this ADV misses out on spoke wheels making it more of a touring machine rather than a proper adventure motorcycle.
