BMW Motorrad has updated its Indian portfolio with the launch of the new G310 RR with ex-showroom prices starting from Rs 2.85 lakh. The motorcycle will be sold in two colours and the premium variant, which has been christened Style Sport, is available at Rs 2.99 lakh. As mentioned earlier, the new BMW G310 RR is available in two variants – Standard and Style Sport.
The difference between the two variants is limited to styling visuals only, and the Style Sport version, which is priced at Rs 2.99 lakh, gets Racing Blue Metallic with Racing Red colour. This paint theme packs bolder graphics than the Standard version.
The Standard version, on the other hand, is available in Black Storm Metallic paint.
The G310 RR is a rebadged version of the TVS Apache RR 310. Thus, the styling cues on the new BMW G310 RR comprise a twin-pod headlight, a full-fairing, clip-on handlebar, an 11-litre fuel tank, a step-up seat, 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, and a side-slung exhaust.
The feature list is identical to the TVS Apache RR 310 as well and the G310 RR uses full-LED lighting, a five-inch colour-TFT display, ride-by-wire throttle, and four riding modes (Track, Urban, Rain and Sport). While the feature list is similar to the Apache RR 310, the new G310 RR misses Bluetooth connectivity.
The mechanical specifications, too, are similar to the Apache RR 310 and the newly launched G310 RR uses a BS6-compliant 313cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine.
Linked to a six-speed gearbox, the motor produces 33.5bhp at 9,700rpm and a peak torque of 27.3Nm at 7,700rpm in Track and Sport modes. The output is lowered to 25.4bhp at 7,700rpm and 25Nm at 6,700rpm in Rain and Urban modes.
The riding modes also affect the top speed. Thus, the Track and Sport modes can achieve a top speed of 160kmph while the Rain and Urban modes are limited to a maximum speed of 125kmph.
The hardware on the motorcycle comprises upside-down front forks and a preload-adjustable rear mono-shock. Unlike the Apache RR 310 BTO or Built-To-Order, the G310 RR does not get the optional, adjustable suspension setup.
The anchoring tasks are handled by disc brakes on both wheels while the safety net includes a dual-channel ABS with rear wheel lift-off protection.
The 17-inch alloy wheels are wrapped in 110/70-section front and 150/60-section rear tyres. Other key dimensions include 811mm of seat height along with an 11-litre fuel tank. And the motorcycle has 174kg kerb weight.
